Nazareth Formation House Celebrates the Solemn Feast of St. John Calabria

Calbayog City – Viva San Juan Calabria! This October 8, 2024, the Nazareth Formation House celebrated the solemn Feast of St. John Calabria, with His Excellency, Most Reverend Isabelo C. Abarquez, presiding over the Eucharistic celebration at 4:00 PM. The Mass was concelebrated by Calabrian and visiting priests, both diocesan and religious. It was attended by members of the Calabrian family, devotees, friends, benefactors, and other visitors.

In his homily, Bishop Abarquez emphasized the core of St. John Calabria’s message and life, stating, “Have love, and you have it all.” He highlighted that love is the foundation of all virtues and that St. John’s life is a living example of how love can transform communities and bring hope to those in need.

The celebration continued with a fellowship dinner, featuring a lively program where aspirants and the Calabrian youth showcased their talents. The evening included a vibrant variety show, beginning with an opening dance salvo, followed by vocal solos, siday (poetic oration), a folk dance, creative festive performances, and a community dance that engaged everyone in the joyful spirit of the occasion.

The Feast Day theme, “St. John Calabria: A Champion of Evangelical Charity and Trust in Divine Providence,” resonated throughout the celebration, reminding all present of the saint's enduring legacy of love, trust, and service.
