Mission Areas in PNG Welcome Fr. Bineesh and Fr. Marvin

Malmal, Papua New Guinea – Fr. Bineesh Manjeriyil, PSDP, General Councilor, and Fr. Marvin Tadena, PSDP, Delegate Superior of Mary Mother of the Poor Delegation, Philippines and Papua New Guinea (PNG), paid a visit to Blessed Peter To Rot Parish, Malmal, Pomio District, Papua New Guinea last 22nd of February. Fr. John Christopher Acebuche, PSDP, its parish priest, welcomed them with joy and hospitality. They do this visit annually to express their fraternal union, support and encouragement to the Calabrian missionaries working in PNG. As of now, there are four Calabrian priests working in the PNG mission namely: Fr. Wilson Kiran, PSDP (Indian); Fr. Sabu Perumpallithara, PSDP (Indian); Fr. John Christopher Acebuche, PSDP (Filipino); and Fr. Alito Cangayao, PSDP (Filipino).



            Aside from their visit to the said parish, Fr. Bineesh and Fr. Marvin also set an appointment with Most Rev. Rochus Joseph Tatamai, DD, MSC, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Rabaul. In this meeting, the good archbishop shared to them about his future plan of expanding the mission areas of the Calabrians in his Archdiocese. To formally establish such, a Memorandum of Agreement between him and Fr. Bineesh, the legal representative of the congregation in PNG, was met and signed.



            After staying for more than a week in PNG, Fr. Bineesh and Fr. Marvin will travel back to Manila. Fr. Bineesh is scheduled to visit the religious communities of the Calabrians in Taytay, Rizal.
