Filipino Calabrian Missionary in PNG Visits His Confreres and CCF
Cagayan de Oro City – Fr. Alito Cangayao, PSDP, a Calabrian missionary in Papua New Guinea (PNG), visited his co-religious and the community of Calabrian Children’s Foundation in Bayabas and Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City (CDO) respectively. He arrived in Laguindingan Airport, Misamis Oriental last February 25, 2025. He stayed for two days in the PSDP religious community of Bayabas where he was welcomed with hospitality by his co-religious and the children of CCF.
During his stay in Bayabas, he also came to see the PSDP Sisters in Carmen where he celebrated the holy eucharist for them.
Then, for two days as well, he stayed in the community of Lumbia where his former companion in the mission in PNG, Fr. Isagani Autentico, PSDP, and the rest of the community gladly welcomed him.
Fr. Alito’s scheduled flight back to Manila will be on March 1, 2025.
Fr. Alito originates from Lope de Vega, Northern Samar. He entered the aspirancy program of the Poor Servants of Divine Providence (Calabrians) in 2000. He did his First Religious Profession in 2010 and his First Triennial Profession in 2013. He was ordained to the priesthood in 2014. Formerly, he served as parish priest of Blessed To Rot Parish, Malmal, Pomio District, Papua New Guinea. He came back to the Philippines December of last year and he is now preparing for his sabbatical period which will commence in March of this year. After his sabbatical, he will travel back to PNG for his missionary endeavors.
