Faithful Gather for Salubong at San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish

Taytay, Rizal - In the early hours of Easter Sunday, parishioners of San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish came together to celebrate the traditional Salubong, a deeply symbolic event in Philippine Catholic tradition that reenacts the meeting of the Sorrowful Mother and the Resurrected Christ. The procession began at 4:30 AM, with the image of the resurrected Christ departing from San Jose Manggangawa Chapel and Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel, Villacuana Pinagbuhatan Pasig hosting the image of Mary. The faithful joined in, carrying candles and prayers, as they witnessed the joyous meeting of Mother and Son, a sign of victory of life over death.

Following the Salubong, a Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Ronnie Lapara, PSDP, marking the resurrection of Christ with faith and hope. The event filled the hearts of attendees with renewed strength and joy, embracing Easter’s message of salvation and renewal.
