General Assembly 2017
Cagayan de Oro City: Religious priests and brothers of the Congregation of the Poor Servants of Divine Providence were convened to celebrate this year the annual General Assembly from May 29-30, 2017 at Lumbia Novitiate House, San Isidro, Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro City. A two-day affair, it had become a moment of expressing fraternal charity and communion, a solicitous time to reflect on our identity and mission, and an expression of God’s providential care and gift toward the congregation’s presence in the Philippines. On the first day, Fr. Reynaldo Olan, the Mission superior, opened the assembly with the words coming from the Holy Gospel and of our Founder, St. John Calabria, who nonetheless reminded us that just like branches connected to the vine; we cannot do anything without God. Coupled with these are the beloved words of our Casante, Fr. Miguel Tofful, who delivered his message to the assembly via video presentation, reminding us with paternal embrace the importance of spiritual and fraternal life, communication and dialogue, formation and docility, transparency and accountability, sharing and corresponsibility.
Rich in fraternal reminders and evaluation, the first and second day became a moment of updating, discussion and solicitation of ideas and experiences. With a thrust toward a better programming of our activities, the assembly was spirited, hopeful and blithe that despite innumerable tensions and polarities experienced in our missionary activities, God’s paternal and maternal graces will never fail in guiding the Mission and usher its life and growth.
